10 Things to Do in South Jordan, Utah

While South Jordan was once a rural area, it is now home to countless retail shops, independent businesses, and residential homes, including Daybreak Utah community homes.

Whether you are looking to move, looking to visit, or have already moved and want to know what activities are available, here are 10 things not to miss in South Jordan:

1. Community Events

One of the most attractive aspects about South Jordan is the city’s community events. South Jordan is known for its events, as they have a wide variety of activities throughout the year that benefit the community members. Some of these events include an Easter Egg Hunt, a Country Fest, which involves a parade, summer movies in the park, chili cook-offs, barbecues, and many others.

2. Parks

Within each community of South Jordan, there are numerous parks full of sprawling hills, green grass, and hiking and biking paths. Some even have water splash zones adjacent to them, which are open throughout the summer.

3. Oquirrh Lake

This gorgeous lake is part of the Daybreak community. Here residents can go canoeing, boating, fishing, and swimming. Plus, there are hiking and biking trails all around.

4. Restaurants

South Jordan has tons of restaurants. Many of them are owned by local residents, which give them a familial atmosphere. Some of the favorites are The Wild Rose, Market Street Grill, and The Pie Pizzeria.

5. The District

This area has over 120 acres of retail shops, offices, theaters, and restaurants. While each residential community in South Jordan typically has their own retail area full of artisan markets, The District is a larger area that feels more metropolitan. Plus, it also has big retailers, such as Target, Hobby Lobby, Ross, Office Max, and JC Penney.

6. Megaplex

The theater in The District is huge, fully outfitted with 3D screens and first run movies. Plus, for those who are deaf or hearing impaired, there are showings that include closed captions.

7. Mini Golf

For families, kids, and couples, Mulligans Golf and Games is a fun park that has mini golf, a driving range, and even batting cages. And, for those who are interested in learning more about golf, you can even take golf lessons.

8. South Jordan History

The Gale Center for History and Culture is a museum documenting the history of South Jordan. It showcases the pioneer shelters, historical household items, and cultural and economical artifacts from years past.

9. Fitness and Rec Center

The Marv Jenson Fitness and Recreation Center is the perfect place to get out all of your energy and you kids’ energy. It has youth sports, fitness classes, and other activities.

10. Salt Lake County Fair

Held in August, the Salt Lake County Fair is one event not to miss. It has a rodeo, cooking contests, great food, and concerts, among others.
