Live Radon Free in a Sego Home

At Sego Homes, we believe that the place where you rely on for comfort and safety should be entirely healthy from top to bottom. That’s why we’re committed to building healthy homes for you and your family — which starts with ensuring your home has safe levels of radon.

Did you know that 1 in 3 homes in Utah have high radon levels? Radon, a naturally occurring, radioactive gas produced by the breakdown of uranium in soil and water, can enter both new and used homes. Radon in homes accounts for up to 70% of all radiation that Utah residents are exposed to. While you can’t “see” radon, the long-term health damage is tangible. Luckily, radon levels in homes can be easily mitigated.

When it comes to your family’s health and happiness, we don’t take any chances. That’s why we include first-rate radon systems in every home. (Yes, every home we build.) These innovative systems reduce radon to safe levels, as well as remove other harmful VOC and humidity, which makes for an even healthier home.

How Radon Reduction Systems Work

Radon Reduction Systems can reduce the radon levels in your home by up to 99%. The most commonly used and effective solution is the subslab suction system, which is installed at the time of construction. Since radon enters the home through the lowest level, one or more suction pipes are inserted through the floor slab into the ground below. A vent fan connected to the pipe draws the gas from below the home and releases it into the outdoor air. This system also creates a vacuum beneath the slab, which reduces the amount of radon that flows up through the home.

From the big milestones to the little moments and everything in between, a carcinogenic health concern shouldn’t get in the way of you and your family’s routine. In fact, it should never even be on your mind. With a healthy home that truly cares about you, you’ll worry less about radon, and focus more on the people and things you love.
